A bold and bright scheme for a unique home in Newport, Pembrokeshire.
We worked with Black Door Stays to create a complete design scheme for Major House- a grade II listed Georgian property in Newport, Pembrokeshire. The client intended to use the property for family getaways and also share it as a holiday home throughout the year. Our brief was to create a bold scheme with personality, warmth and a touch of luxury that would stand out against typical holiday home interiors whilst adhering to practical requirements and budget restraints.
The existing property had a dark and dated interior with an awkward layout; local architect Wesley Spees detailed the reconfiguration of the property adding an extension to the rear to create a large, bright kitchen and adjoining sun room. We carefully considered the layout and design of each space providing flexibility for the varied requirements of the client’s family and potential guests.
We chose a bold colour scheme and sourced contemporary furniture items which combined with the existing period features of the house and carefully sourced local vintage pieces create an eclectic and homely feel. Subtle references to the property’s seaside location have been brought in with artwork and local textiles.
Major House has been featured in a range of media platforms including 25 Beautiful Homes and Circus Journal.
